Kyrgios: At the Australian Open I played for four hours, and Svitolina for 40 minutes. But we were paid the same amount

The Australian believes that the payment of money should be fair

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios indignantly spoke out about the payment of prize money in the men’s and women’s categories, calling on the ATP and WTA to reconsider the amounts of payments. As an example, Nick mentioned a Ukrainian woman Elina Svitolinacomparing his and her earnings at the Australian Open 2022.

“I played four hours at the Australian Open, and Svitolina played about 40 minutes. And yet we were both paid the same amount,” Kyrgios is indignant.

Kyrgios missed this season due to injury. The Australian had problems with his wrist, knee and foot throughout the year. Nick played only one match at the tournament in Stuttgart in 2023.

The Australian is known for his scandalous actions on the court, as well as harsh comments after matches. Kyrgios’ best result at a Grand Slam tournament is the 2022 Wimbledon final.

At the Australean Open 2022, Kyrgios spent a total of five hours, Svitolina “collected” four hours and 46 minutes in three matches. The Ukrainian played three matches at the event, Kyrgios finished his performances in the second round. The maximum number of sets for men is five, women can play three games on the court.
