The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) included the defeat of the Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev in the first round of Roland-Garros among the great sensations of the Grand Slam tournaments in 2023, according to the official ATP website.
In May, Medvedev was defeated by Brazilian Thiago Seibut, 79th in the current ATP ranking, at the start of Roland Garros with a score of 6:7 (5:7), 7:6 (8:6), 6:2 , 3:6, 4:6.
Also included in the ranking are the defeats of Dane Casper Ruud at the US Open (2nd round), Italian Yannick Ciner at Roland Garros (1st round) and American Taylor Fritz at the Australian Open ( 2nd round). The summit was led by Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, who lost to Swiss representative Dominique Stricker in the second round of the US Open.
Medvedev finished the 2023 season as the third-ranked racket in the world.
