Meet the finalists of “The Best”, the Chilean automobile grand prix

The 17th edition of the traditional prize is approaching “The best” . The traditional award awarded continuously since 2007 by the main automotive media in Chile, and organized by MT La Tercera, has already defined the models by category that will compete for the major trophy.

On this occasion, “The Best 2024”, an award sponsored by the National Automobile Association of Chile (ANAC), selected nearly 130 launches approved and put on sale in the country between January 1 and December 31, 2023 . Of this total, 45 finalists drew the first phase in 10 categories and must now reach the final track test to continue the race.

After a vote by 17 journalists and communicators representing 16 media outlets, the category finalists were established. Best car, best premium car, best truck, best super sports car, best sports car, best SUV, best premium SUV, best large SUV, best utility vehicle and best eco-friendly .

On this occasion, as is a constant in the global industry, the category Best high-end car It was the one that was least populated and the two models meeting the requirements went directly to the final.

On the other hand, the category Best organic Its participation has increased considerably and given this issue, it was decided to only consider electric models (100% electric, plug-in hybrid and extended range electric). In this way, hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles enter the competition for the awards as normal models in their respective series.

Along with these categories, will also be chosen –but without track testing – for the best design, the best value for money car and the best brand.

Later it will be added “The best of the best », a prize which will be chosen on the same day as the awards ceremony, which will take place before a notary, on January 8, among the winners of the different categories.
