Molchanov entered into the Australian Open doubles main draw

The Ukrainian tennis player can play at the Australian Open for the third time in his career and for the first time since 2019

Ukrainian tennis player Denis Molchanov together with the Serb Nikola Cacic entered into the main doubles draw Australian Open 2024.

The 36-year-old Ukrainian can play at the Australian Open for the third time in his career and for the first time in five years. In 2019, he, in a duet with Slovakian Igor Zelenay, was eliminated in the second round.

Molchanov has only competed in singles twice over the past six years. But in doubles, the Ukrainian has some success – in particular, two victories in ATP series tournaments, the last of which he won in October 2023 in Stockholm. In the world ranking (doubles) Denis ranks 64th – he is the only representative of Ukraine in the top 100.

Molchanov will start 2024 at the ATP 250 tournament in Brisbane, Australia (January 1-7), where he will be paired with Matve Middelkop from the Netherlands.

The Australian Open 2024 will take place from 14 to 28 January 2024. Of the Ukrainian tennis players, Vitaly Sachko and Ilya Marchenko are also announced for the first major next year – both will begin their journey in qualification.
