The Catholic University names the central court of San Carlos de Apoquindo with the name of Jaime Fillol

In order to pay tribute to him in life, to highlight his legacy and to make him a permanent symbol for future generations of tennis players, This morning, the Catholic University Sports Club named the CDUC central tennis court after the distinguished former national tennis player Jaime Fillol Durán.

“With this tribute, we want to underline his enormous contribution to the development of national tennis, salute his extraordinary sporting career, reward his immense commitment to our institution, but above all highlight his great human quality. Today, his name will remain forever engraved on this Center Court and will become an important milestone in the history of our club. said CDUC President Francisco Urrejola.

During the ceremony, which took place at the CDUC tennis sports complex in San Carlos de Apoquindo and in which various authorities, tennis players and personalities linked to the world of sport participated. , a mass was celebrated in honor of the winner. Subsequently, a commemorative plaque was unveiled with the new name “Central Court” engraved under the name of Jaime Fillol Durán.

Fillol is a surname that has left its mark on world tennis. During his career, he reached 14th place in the ATP rankings, obtaining 24 titles, 8 in singles and 16 in doubles. Among his great sporting achievements are the finals of the Roland Garros tournament in 1972 and 1975; United States Open in 1974 and Davis Cup in 1976 representing Chile. Currently he is still linked to the world of tennis and his career has served as an inspiration to new generations of tennis players.
