This Monday the decline of the first national racket to 56th position was formalized. The Swiss, meanwhile, after dropping the 600 points he got at Wimbledon in 2021, is no longer on the list.
Christian Garin suffered another drop in the ATP rankings after Monday’s update. The national top racket lost 180 points, dropping 13 spots in the standings to 56th place.
It should be noted that despite reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, the competition did not award points due to the decision not to allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian tennis players.
The one who could rejoice was Alejandro Tabilo who, despite having lost 4 points, moved up six places to settle in 72nd place, his best ranking.
Nicolás Jarry also moved up to 118th place, while Tomás Barrios was 131st and Gonzalo Lama 254th.
At the top of the standings, Russian Daniil Medvedev continues in first place with a total of 7,775 points and is followed by Alezander Zverev. Third appears already Rafael Nadal who recovered a place after the fall of four places from Novak Djokovic who is now world number 7.
Federer, out of the standings
Also, with this update, Roger Federer’s departure from the rankings has been made official. The Swiss lost the 600 points he obtained in the 2021 edition of Wimbledon, where he fell in the quarterfinals, which were the last remaining of the record, so he no longer appears in the rankings.
With his last record at 97th place, Federer has been absent from competitions since suffering an injury in August 2021 for which he had to undergo three operations.
This situation is reflected in the fact that in the past two years he was able to play only six tournaments. After the Oceania Grand Slam, he was erased from the whole of 2020 and only reappeared at the ATP 500 in Doha ten months later. Next are Geneva, Roland Garros, Halle and Wimbledon, which so far is the last competition he has played.
