Novak Djokovic will have to defend more points than any other player in the top 10 – 2,250. The Serbian will have to defend his winning points from the Australian Open, as well as the other 250 points he earned by winning the ‘Adelaide International.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has the second most points to defend in January 2024 with 1,425, including 1,200 points for second place at the 2023 Australian Open. He also scored 225 points after helping Greece reach the United Cup semi-finals.

Carlos Alcaraz will not have to defend his points since he did not participate in any tournament in January 2023. The Spaniard was forced to withdraw from the Australian Open due to an injury suffered during the ‘training. The Spaniard is expected to start the 2024 season directly at the Australian Open.

World number three Daniil Medvedev will have to defend the 180 points he earned after a third-round exit at the Australian Open and a semi-final exit at the Adelaide International. Like Alcaraz, he will also begin his 2024 season at the Australian Open.

Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublev, Alexander Zverev and Holger Rune just have to defend their points at the Australian Open 2023. Rublev has 360 points to reach the quarterfinals, while Sinner and Rune each have 180 points to reach the round of 16. Alexander Zverev was eliminated in the second round of the 2023 Australian Open, so he will only have 45 points to defend.

Hubert Hurkacz has 255 points to defend, including 180 obtained at the 2023 Australian Open, before the fourth round. He also scored 75 points as Poland reached the semi-finals of the United Cup.

Taylor Fritz will have 395 ranking points to defend, including 350 coming from the United Cup, as he helped Team USA win the tournament.

The Serbian became the world’s first racket at the end of the year, winning a match at the ATP Finals tournament. Given the gap that separates him from the other players, he will remain at the top of the rankings at least until the end of January.

Djokovic had a memorable 2023 season, winning three Grand Slam titles and setting a new record for the most Grand Slam titles won by a singles player in the Open era. He also won a record seventh ATP Finals title.
