The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has made changes to the system for accumulating ranking points from 2024, the organization’s press service reports.
The number of points that participants in ATP category tournaments will receive has been increased – for example, finalists of Grand Slam tournaments will earn 1,300 points instead of the previous 1,200, and finalists of Masters category tournaments will earn 650 points (previously 600). On the contrary, during Challenger category tournaments, the number of points will be reduced.
The changes aim to optimize the distribution of points following the increase in the number of Masters tournaments to 96 entries, as well as to provide better balance following the increase in the number of higher level Challengers.
The distribution of points in doubles competitions will remain the same.
