Nadal said he wasn’t thinking about winning tournaments after his return

Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal said he wasn’t thinking about winning tournaments after returning, but was trying to enjoy the game.

On Thursday, former world number one Nadal flew to Brisbane, where he plans to compete in the ATP-250 tournament. Due to injuries, the 37-year-old Spaniard missed almost all of last season. Nadal will play at the Australian Open in January.

— Today, it is impossible to think about winning tournaments. What is really possible is to enjoy the return. I don’t expect much. Yet, a year without going on the court.

I don’t know how everything will evolve. I’m not a gambler who tries to predict what might happen in the short term, but in the long term it’s even more difficult.

I have to accept the challenges and the fact that not everything will be perfect. You just have to come every day with the right attitude,” Nadal said, as quoted by Reuters.

Previously, Nadal said that with a high probability, the 2024 season would be the last of his career.

Nadal is a 22-time Grand Slam winner. According to this indicator, among the players on the ATP circuit, he is just behind the Serbian Novak Djokovic (24 years old).
