Swiss tennis player Roger Federer I stand by that “forever” fond of winning, he taught that if one is no longer competitive “better stop playing” and said he has learned to be happy with other things in life, beyond professional sports. This was revealed in an interview offered to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad by the 20 -time Grand Slam title champion who has not been able to play tennis for more than a year due to his knee injury.
“I always wanted to win but if you are no longer competitive you better stop playing”Federer asserted, adding: “I don’t think I need tennis; I’ve learned to be happy with other things in life”.
Federer plans to play Laver Cupwho will face a team from Europe against the Rest of the World in London, between September 23 and 25, and will play in the Basel tournament, from October 24 to 30 next.
The tennis player who for many is the best of all time participated in the celebration of 100 years of Wimbledon Central Court and adopted that “It’s a weird feeling not to be playing Wimbledon this year and having to watch it on television”.
On the other hand, he said tennis has given him “a chance to choose to order” his travels and “give something back to people.”
“Many friends always come to me; now I have been able to go and visit them”he insisted.
