A qualifying match for a tennis tournament in Australia was interrupted due to a venomous snake crawling on the court.

First qualifying round match of the ATP 250 tournament in Brisbane, Australia, between the former world third racket, Austrian Dominik Tim and Australia’s Jack McCabe was suspended due to a venomous snake crawling on the field, The Guardian reports.

According to the newspaper, the referee had to stop play in the second set when spectators noticed a snake on the court. Security personnel were called and a snake catcher managed to catch the reptile. It turned out to be a 50-centimeter oriental brown snake. It is considered the second most venomous land snake.

Finally, the game resumed. The final score of the match was 2:6, 7:6 (7:4), 6:4 in favor of Tim, who will play in the qualifying final.

The main part of the tournament in Brisbane, Australia will take place from December 31 to January 7. Among the Russians, Alexandre Shevchenko, Roman Safiullin and Aslan Karatsev will take part in the competition. Andrey Kuznetsov leads the qualifying round.
