Czech, former world number two Petra Kvitova announced that she was expecting her first child.
Kvitova is married to coach Jiri Vanek. In July 2023, the couple got married.
— On this first day of 2024, I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and share some excellent news. This summer a baby will appear in our family,” 33-year-old Kvitova wrote, posting a photo with an ultrasound image.
Kvitova is a two-time Grand Slam winner (Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014). In total, the 17th racket in the world has 34 victories in WTA tournaments.
The athlete has been included on the entry list for the Australian Open, which begins in two weeks. Previously, the Czech interrupted her career in 2016 after being attacked by a thief who injured her hand with a knife.
