The meeting ended with the victory of the Argentine athlete with a score of 6:3, 6:4.
The match lasted 1 hour 22 minutes. Riera made four serves, committed two double faults and converted three out of seven break points. Alexandrova committed six double faults and one successful break point out of nine.
In the next round of the tournament in Brisbane, Riera will meet Czech tennis player Linda Noskova, ranked 40th in the world. The tournament in Australia is scheduled to end on January 7.
