Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic lost to the Australian Alex De Minaur in the quarterfinals of the United Cup team tournament.
The match took place in Perth, Australia and ended with De Minaur winning with a score of 6:4, 6:4. The opponents spent 1 hour 34 minutes on the field. Djokovic suffered his first defeat on Australian courts since 2018.
Later on Wednesday, Serbian Natalia Stevanovic will face Ajla Tomljanovic, while Djokovic and Olga Danilovic face Storm Hunter/Matthew Ebden in mixed doubles.
In the other quarterfinal, Poland beat China with a score of 3:0. Hubert Hurkacz beat Zhang Chichen with a score of 6:3, 6:4, world number one Iga Szwiatek was stronger that Zheng Qingwen (6:2, 6:3), in mixed doubles Jan Zieliński and Katarzyna Piter beat the duo Yu Xiaodi. /Sun Fajing with a score of 2:1 (6:3, 5:7, 1:0).
The United Cup takes place on the courts of Australia and will end on January 7. The Russian team is not participating in the tournament.
