Vice President of the Russian Tennis Federation, member of the ITF Board of Directors Alexey Selivanenko shared with Vprognoze.ru his impressions of the Russian tennis player’s meeting Andrei Rublev with Arthur Fis of France during a tournament in Hong Kong, China.
The fifth number in the current ATP ranking, Rublev defeated the world 36th racket Arthur Fis of France with a score of 6:4, 1:6, 6:2 in the quarterfinals of the Hong Kong tournament. The match lasted 1 hour and 52 minutes.
“This happens a lot in tennis. In the first set there was an even fight on the court, in which Rublev won by a serve. In the second set, Fiss played very well, achieving early breaks. And then Andrey, using his experience and class, led the match to victory. Fiss showed why he is considered one of the most promising tennis players of the next generation. But he only showed it in the second set. And Rublev is already one of the main players on the circuit. In the decisive third set, he acted as usual. Andrey should have won this match,” Selivanenko said.
The Russian’s opponent in the semi-final will be number 183 in the ATP rankings, Chinese Shang Junchang.
