Former world rankings leader John McEnroe felt that the Australian Nick Kirios has psychological problems.
“I understand what is happening on the pitch much better than most people. Kyrios is a good guy, the players love him, they love him, he does a lot of charity work.
But he has problems – we all have this fear of failure, and the question is how best to deal with it. The guy doesn’t need a coach, the guy is brilliant in the way he plays. He needs someone like Sigmund Freud,” McEnroe told the Australian ABC.
Kirios reached the Wimbledon final last week, where he lost to Serbian Novak Djokovic. The Australian was fined a total of $21,460 on three occasions during the tournament for inappropriate behavior including spitting at a fan.
