Dmitrieva appreciated the words of Rybakina, who does not consider himself a product of the Russian school

Anna Dmitrieva, 18-time USSR tennis champion, believes that a native of Moscow Elena Rybakina trained as a player in Kazakhstan.

Rybakina, representing Kazakhstan, defeated Ons Jaber of Tunisia in the Wimbledon 2022 final on Saturday with a score of 3:6, 6:2, 6:2. The tennis player changed sport citizenship in 2018.

– Rybakina does not consider himself a product of the Russian school? Elena grew up in Russia, but she became a player in Kazakhstan. I am very grateful to everyone who immediately organized everything there for her. They were very lucky to have such an athlete, although they probably weren’t 100% sure she was that capable. But they conscientiously created a team, organized everything, and thanks to this, Lena had the opportunity to train, play and compete regularly. Lena was transferred to Spartak from another section, but they didn’t really care about her there, because everyone had their own business.

I remember how she came to play a tournament on the eve of Roland Garros, and then all the other girls were with personal coaches, and Lena was alone – she didn’t have a coach. Yes, it was such that if a coach was free, he approached her when she was playing, but nothing more. It was clear that in order to progress, she needed to find a normal and reliable coach and a team that would train her. Parents took a risk and decided to go to Kazakhstan, and we see the result, – said Dmitrieva “Championship”.

Rybakina is 23 years old. The tennis player has three victories in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) singles tournaments, six times more than the tennis player has played in the final.
