The first major of the year for the second racket of Ukraine ended immediately
Ukrainian tennis player Ilya Marchenko had an unsuccessful start in qualifying for the Australian Open 2024. The Ukrainian tennis player lost to the Bosnian Nerman Fatich in a dramatic match – 0:2.
The match lasted 1 hour and 47 minutes. Marchenko immediately lost to his opponent on his serve, and then spent the entire set trying in vain to keep up with his opponent – 4:6.
In the second game, Ilya and Nerman carefully collected their serves, so it came to a tiebreaker. There the Ukrainian led with a score of 5:3, but fatally missed the advantage – 5:7.
Ilya was the first of his compatriots to start qualifying for the Australian Open. At night and in the morning (Kyiv time) on January 10, Vitaly Sachko, as well as Dayana Yastremskaya, Daria Snigur, Yulia Starodubtseva and Katarina Zavatskaya will play their matches.
