The rivals of Russian tennis players in the first round of the Australian Open have been determined.
The draw for the main draw of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season took place on Thursday in Melbourne.
In the first round Lyudmila Samsonova who received the 13th seed, will face American Amanda Anisimova. Daria Kasatkina (14) will meet with US Representative Peyton Stearns. Veronica Kudermetova (15 years old) will compete for access to the second round with the Swiss Victoria Golubic.
The world number one, the Polish Iga Szwiatek (1), will face the American Sofia Kenin. Elena Rybakina (3), originally from Moscow, representing Kazakhstan, will meet Czech Karolina Pliskova. The opponent of Belarusian Arina Sabalenka (2) will be determined later.
Australian Open main draw matches begin on January 14.
