Three Ukrainians are one step away from getting into the main draw of the first major of the year
Three Ukrainian tennis players continued their successful performance in the qualifying semi-finals Australian Open 2024making it to the qualifying finals.
Dayana Yastremskaya (the first number of qualifying seeds), as in the previous round, spent three sets to overcome the resistance of the Greek Valentini Grammatikopoulou – 6:4, 3:6, 6:4. Her fight lasted more than two hours.
Yulia Starodubtseva won her second victory in a row at her debut level – and again in two sets. This time, the rapidly progressing Ukrainian defeated the British Harriet Dart, the 114th racket in the world (6:4, 6:4).
Daria Snigur followed the example of her colleagues and in a little over an hour dealt with the American Ann Lee – 6:4, 6:2.
At these moments, another of our compatriots, Katarina Zavatskaya, continues her match against Australian Maddison Inglis. If she overcomes this barrier, she will play against Snigur in the qualifying final.
For the right to enter the main draw of the Australian Open, Yastremskaya will fight with Australian Maya Joynt, Starodubtseva will face the winner of the duel Raluca Serban (Cyprus) – Gabriela Knutson (Czech Republic).
