The Ukrainian failed to cope with the 12th racket of the world
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk failed to make it to the semi-finals of the tournament WTA 500 V Adelaide (Australia).
Our compatriot fought to give way to the 12th racket of the world ranking, the sixth seeded of the tournament, Elena Ostapenko from Latvia.
The fight lasted more than an hour and a half. The first set turned out to be extremely dramatic. Marta missed a break at 1-1, then lost serve at 2-3, but returned the favor in the ninth game. And yet the set remained for Ostapenko – 5:7.
At the start of the second game, the Ukrainian lost her serve twice, which predetermined the fate of the match.
Let us remember that in the first round of this tournament, Marta beat the second racket of Ukraine, Angelina Kalinina, and in the 1/8 finals she was stronger than Taylor Townsend from the USA.
Three days later, on January 14, Kostyuk will start in the main draw of the Australian Open against American Claire Liu.
