Seven Ukrainian women will play in the Australian Open
Three Ukrainian tennis players made it to the main draw Australian Open 2024.
Dayana Yastremskaya managed to beat Maya Joynt from Australia in three sets (6:2, 1:6, 6:4). Three batches required Daria Snigur to defeat Maddison Inglis (6:2, 5:7, 6:3).
The most spectacular match was the final of the AO-2024 qualification Yulia Starodubtseva against Gabriela Knutson: the opponents spent almost three hours on the court, and the Ukrainian won in a tiebreaker in the third set (10:4).
Thus, seven Ukrainian tennis players will play in the Australian Open singles. In addition to Yastremskaya, Snigur and Starodubtseva, Elina Svitolina, Angelina Kalinina, Marta Kostyuk and Lesya Tsurenko will also perform at the event.
Four representatives of Ukraine (Kalinina, Kostyuk and the Kichenok sisters) will play in doubles. Ukrainian Denis Molchanov entered the main draw of the duet competition together with Serbian Nikola Cacic.
