Three Ukrainian women qualified for the Australian Open and set a record

Yastremskaya, Snigur and Starodubtseva succeeded in qualifying for the first Grand Slam tournament of the season.

The current Australian Open has been historic for Ukraine. For the first time, seven representatives of our country will compete in the main draw of the Australian Open.

It became known after the completion of the qualifying finals of the tournament, where three Ukrainians won and got a ticket to the main round.

Let’s remember that all Ukrainians struggled in decisive matches, and all of them managed to overcome their opponents in only three sets.

This is how Yulia Starodubtseva defeated the Czech Gabriela Knutson, Dayana Yastremska, Australian Maya Johnt, and Daria Snigur, another hostess of the tournament, Maddison Inglis. The latter, we remind you, knocked out another Ukrainian, Katarina Zavatskaya, in the semifinals of the selection.

Dayana Yastremskaya (Ukraine) – Maya Johnt (Australia) – 6:2, 1:6, 6:4
