Athletistic/Tennis. President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishchev expressed his opinion on the Australian Open draw for Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev.

Medvedev, ranked 3rd in the world, will begin the tournament with a match against Frenchman Terence Atman, ranked 145th in the ATP rankings. Andrey Rublev will meet Brazilian Thiago Wilde, ranked 78th.

“The first round for Rublev and Medvedev is quite soft. If Daniil manages to complete two or three rounds, he will be able to get into rhythm and show good results. However, the problem is that he did not play before the Australian Open. Therefore, it might have been better to participate in a tournament in order to get into the rhythm of the game. We don’t know why he didn’t participate, there may be some reasons.” noted Tarpishchev, as reported by TASS.
