World number 6 Jabeur said she was helping people in the Gaza Strip

Tunisian tennis player Ons Gil said she was helping residents of the Gaza Strip during the armed conflict with Israel.

“I’ve been watching the Palestinian-Israeli conflict since I was young, it’s heartbreaking. Every second I wish for peace in Gaza, I pray that people live in peace. It’s very sad. I try to help in any way I can: medical care, food, resources that they may not have there.

I help, but I feel like it’s not enough. I always do my best, but I can’t even imagine how they live, it’s very difficult. It’s not just about what happened in the past year, it’s about 75 years of hell,” Jaber was quoted as saying by Khaleej Times.

The escalation of the long-running Palestinian-Israeli conflict began on the morning of October 7. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared in a speech to the nation that the country was in a state of war.

Jabeur is ranked sixth in the world rankings and the 29-year-old has five wins in WTA singles tournaments.
