Athletistic/Tennis. Two-time winner of junior Grand Slam tournaments, 16-year-old Russian tennis player Alina Korneeva, ranked 180th in the world rankings, reached the second round of the 2024 Australian Open.

In the first round, Korneeva defeated Spanish tennis player Sara Sorribes-Tormo, ranked 53rd, with a score of 4:6, 6:3, 6:2. The duration of the meeting was 2 hours and 19 minutes. This victory became for Korneeva her debut in the main draw of an adult Grand Slam tournament.

In the next round, Korneeva will meet the winner of the match Beatrice Addad-Maia (Brazil, 10 years old) – Linda Fruhvirtova (Czech Republic).
