Vice President of the Russian Tennis Federation Alexei Selivanenko shared his opinion on the upcoming match of the second round of the Australian Open, in which Russian Maria Timofeeva will play with Danish Caroline Wozniacki.
For Timofeeva, 20, this is her first participation in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. The Russian qualified and in the first round she defeated Frenchwoman Alizé Cornet – 6:2, 6:4.
— Maria is the student of Yulia Bekeschenko, who has a whole galaxy of promising girls growing up. Maria already felt the taste of victory at the WTA tournament last year, so in the match with Caroline I would not name anyone as a favorite. Experience, of course, is always important, but it is not the only factor of success, quotes RB Sport Selivanenko.
The match between Wozniacki and Timofeev will take place on January 17.
