Russian tennis player Alina Korneeva will be able to compete with Brazilian Beatrice Haddad-Maya in the second round of the Australian Open, says the winner of two Grand Slam mixed doubles tournaments, Andrei Olkhovsky.
In the first round, 16-year-old Korneeva defeated Spaniard Sara Sorribes-Tormo with a score of 4:6, 6:3, 6:2. Haddad Maya is seeded 10th.
“I think Alina can easily force a fight and fight for victory. Haddad-Maia had not performed well in Australia before this tournament. Today, in women’s tennis, there are no invincibles. There are about five leaders and you can always play with the others and fight for victory. It remains only to wish Alina good luck and success,” Olkhovsky told RB Sport.
