Athletistic / Tennis. Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva defeated Tunisian Ons Jabeur (6:0, 6:2) in the second round of the Australian Open 2024. The 16-year-old from Krasnoyarsk significantly increased her WTA ranking after this victory.
The victory over the sixth racket in the world allowed Andreeva to rise to 34th place in the live WTA rankings. Before the start of the Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne, Mirra was ranked 47th in the rankings. It should be noted that Mirra was able to make her debut on the adult circuit in the spring of 2023, and therefore now she “earns” points and with each victory she rises in the world rankings.
Note that in the next round of the Australian Open, Mirra Andreeva will play with Frenchwoman Diane Parry, who managed to beat another Russian Kamilla Rakhimova in the second round.
