Athletistic / Tennis. Early in the morning of January 17, Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva defeated the world’s sixth racket Ons Jabeur of Tunisia in the second round of the 2024 Australian Open (6:0, 6:2). This allowed the 16-year-old from Krasnoyarsk to repeat one of the unique feats in the history of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
Andreeva became the second youngest player in the Open era to lose no more than three matches to a WTA top 10 player in a Grand Slam match. At a younger age, this feat was achieved by Australian Elena Dokic.
In the third round of the Australian Open, Mirra Andreeva will face the winner of the match Kamilla Rakhimova (Russia) – Diane Parry (France). The AO 2024 women’s singles final will take place on January 27.
