The Ukrainian tennis player became the fourth representative of our country in the 1/16 of the prestigious tournament.
Dayana Yastremskaya supported her compatriots and also reached the third round of the Australian Open. To do this, he had to defeat the representative of France, Varvara Gracheva.
The Ukrainian showed a great game, thanks to which he advanced further – 6:3, 6:2. In the third round, Yastremskaya will play with American Emma Navarro.
So, four Ukrainian tennis players made it to the third round of the Australian Open. So, for the first time in history, our country will be represented in such numbers in Grand Slam tournaments.
Previously, a maximum of three of our compatriots reached the third round of the majors. This happened at the Australian Open (2018, 2023) and the US Open (2016).
We remind you that earlier Elina Svitolina qualified for the 1/16 of the Australian Open.
