Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev admitted it was hard for him during the Australian Open second round match with the Finn Emil Ruusuvuori and he will remember this match which ended in the morning.
The third-seeded Russian beat Ruusuvuori with a score of 3:6, 6:7 (1:7), 6:4, 7:6 (7:1), 6:0. The tennis players spent 4 hours and 23 minutes on the court.
– It was hard. I think the only two matches where I lost two sets and won were here, on this court. So it’s definitely a good memory. And this match at 3:40 in the morning will definitely remain engraved in my memory. Thank you to the spectators for not going out and staying in the stands until the end of the match.
The start of the match wasn’t easy and I made too many mistakes in the first set. Then I changed my racket and finally found one that made my game easier. I started playing it at the beginning of the third set and stayed until the end of the match,” Medvedev said during a field interview.
In the next round, Medvedev will face Canadian Félix Auger-Alassime (27th seed).
