Olympic champion and winner of two Grand Slam tournaments Eugene Kafelnikov said he enjoyed the Russian match Anna Blinkova with a representative from Kazakhstan Elena Rybakina at the Australian Open.
On Thursday, Blinkova reached the third round of the Australian Open by defeating Rybakina with a score of 6:4, 4:6, 7:6 (22:20). The athletes spent 2 hours and 46 minutes on the field. This tiebreaker became the longest in the history of Grand Slam singles tournaments.
– Well done Anya! This made all the fans happy. Everyone was looking at her, including me. I had great pleasure. Rybakina is a good tennis player, but Anya held her own. I’m very happy for her,” Kafelnikov said, as quoted by Championship.
Blinkova’s next opponent will be Italian Jasmine Paolini, seeded 26th at the Australian Open.
