Australian Open: Kostyuk makes it to the 1/8 finals, not Tsurenko

The third round of competition at the 2024 Australian Open has begun.

There are fewer Ukrainian representatives in Australian Open tennis this year. After the third round of the competition, Lesya Tsurenko finished her performances. In the 1/16 finals of the Australian major, the Ukrainian lost badly to world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka in two sets in 52 minutes. Our tennis player did not get a game from the representative of the aggressor country.

But Marta Kostyuk continues to fight for the trophy. In the third round match, she met the 74th racket of the world, the Russian Elina Avanesyan. The first set was left to her opponent, while in the second, Marta, although she started with a lost serve, pulled herself together and won. The last game started well – Marta won four games, but then her opponent responded with four in a row. However, Marta scored the next two games in her favor and advanced to the fourth round.
