The Ukrainian-Latvian couple managed to pass the duet from Australia – Kimberley Birrell / Olivia Gadecki
Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok made it to the third round doubles on Australian Open 2024.
In tandem with Latvian representative Elena Ostapenko, the Ukrainian defeated the duo from Australia – Kimberly Birrell / Olivia Gadecki – in three sets. The meeting lasted two hours and 39 minutes.
Kichenok and Ostapenko achieved a strong-willed victory. Having lost in the first set (3:6), the Ukrainian-Latvian pair managed to win back four match points from their opponents, take a tiebreaker in the second set (10:8) and secure two breaks in the deciding set (6:3).
In the third round, Kichenok and Ostapenko will play against Fan Hsien Wu (Taiwan) / Lin Zhu (China). Marta Kostyuk also continues to participate in women’s doubles.
