Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavliuchenkova announced that due to injury she declined to compete in the Australian Open doubles.
Pavlyuchenkova paired with a compatriot Veronica Kudermetova in the second round, she had to meet the duo Gabriela Dabrowski/Erin Routliffe (Canada/New Zealand).
“Unfortunately, I had to withdraw from the Australian Open doubles event with Kudermetova due to an abdominal injury I suffered during the final match of the tournament in Adelaide.
I wanted to be in better shape at the Australian Open, but there will always be next time. It’s time to reboot and recover,” Pavlyuchenkova wrote on the social network.
Pavlyuchenkova completed her performances at the Melbourne singles tournament in the second round, Kudermetova in the first.
