Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev after reaching the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open, he said he was about 80% physically ready.
In the third round, the third-seeded Russian beat Canadian Félix Auger-Alassime (27) with a score of 6:3, 6:4, 6:3. In the second round, Medvedev defeated Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori in five sets, the match ended around 4:00 local time.
— (After the last match) it was hard, there was no feeling of freshness. It was difficult to run, so I tried to make my shots more difficult to have less movement on the court. But overall I’m happy with the game.
We tried to do our best with my team. I went to bed at 7 a.m., woke up at 12 p.m. Then I slept well. At least I have this superpower. I can sleep wherever I want, whenever I want.
“I tried to show 100%, but I think I can estimate the state at 80%,” Medvedev said in an interview after the match.
The Russian’s next opponent will be the Portuguese Nuno Borges, who beat the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, seeded 13th, in the third round.
— I saw his matches a few years ago. He beat Grigor, that’s worth a lot. “I will try to show the best of tennis,” Medvedev noted.
