At the 2024 Australian Open in Melbourne, one of the four major Grand Slam tournaments, the men’s and women’s singles 1/8 finals were determined. This became known after the final matches of the third round, held on January 20, in which Russian Daniil Medvedev defeated Canadian Felix Auger-Oliassime 6:3 6:4 6:3, Russian German Alexander Zverev Jr. (son of prominent Soviet tennis player Alexander Zverev Sr.) defeated American Alex Michelsen (USA) and Czech tennis player Linda Noskova eliminated world number one Iga Swiatek (Poland) from tournament 3 :6 6:3 6:4.
