Athletistic/Tennis. The Russian Mirra Andreeva, 16, sheathed her racket following the results of the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open.

Andreeva failed to advance to the quarterfinals. She lost to the 2021 Roland-Garros champion, 11th racket in the world, the Czech Barbora Krejcikova.

“Difficult match. She played excellent tennis. I had a little difficulty at the beginning and during the match. It’s normal, it happens. It’s tennis. But you have to give her credit, she showed an incredible level of play. I wish him good luck until the very end of the tournament.

I put a bit of pressure on myself before the match because I felt like I had an advantage. I’ve already beaten her twice. It’s the 1/8 finals, for the first time I can reach the quarter-finals.

After winning the first set, I thought it was almost over. But the first set does not mean winning the match. This happened to me several times last year. We must learn a lesson from this. I will try to draw conclusions from this match. Maybe not today, but tomorrow. I’ll just try to play better in the next match.

I think overall I had a good tournament. For the second time in my life, I played the fourth round. I hope it won’t be the last (smile). There are many positive things to take away from this trip. The previous match was great. I beat my idol here. There is a lot of positivity both in the tournament and in this match. I can’t wait to come back here next year.

Playing at any Grand Slam is special, but so is Melbourne. This is my third time here, but it’s the second time I’ve played on these courts. It was the first time I played on these big fields.
