Andrei Chesnokov, former world number nine singles player and winner of seven ATP titles, considers the Pole Hubert Hurkacz favorite of the match against Daniel Medvedev in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.
On Monday, Medvedev defeated Portuguese Nuno Borges with a score of 6:3, 7:6 (7:4), 5:7, 6:1 and reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, where he will meet Hurkacz.
“We feed animals with food, and Borges fed Medvedev with shortened food. He won a lot of those goals. For Medvedev, this match was very difficult. Against the backdrop of Borges’ phenomenal games, Medvedev made many unforced errors. But it’s good that Medvedev’s third set, which he won, turned out to be more comfortable for him.
In the quarter-finals, I see Hurkac as favorite, not Medvedev. I want to upset you. But this is my opinion, and Daniil can be completely different – it’s very difficult to play against Borges,” Chesnokov said at the Championship.
