In the middle of the summer holidays – and just before the start of the process of obtaining a driving license – one of the first steps to take to be able to pay for it is to have the technical inspection updated. Consult the calendar according to your patent here.Text:
The summer months are synonymous with vacations, but also with being able to carry out various tasks and procedures. With the beginning of January, the calendar also begins to be able to take the 2024 technical exam, one of the main conditions to be able to obtain, from March, the circulation permit.
But beyond the paperwork, it is a mandatory process that all used vehicles must complete every year – and some even every six months, as we explain below.
The images left by the technical inspection facilities at this time are generally not very encouraging due to the long queues and the time that must be allowed to carry out a check which should not take more than 45 minutes. The problem is that many drivers and vehicle owners abandon this mandatory procedure until the end, even when the technical inspection has expired, which could lead to the vehicle being taken out of circulation, as required by law.

The process itself is simple and if you do it at the right time, it shouldn’t take long. For this, there is a calendar depending on the termination of the patent and the month of the year so that you can carry out this process.
When should I take the technical exam?
For those who own a light car for private use, this procedure is done once a year (except new vehicles) and the months are as follows:

January: vehicles with license plates ending in 9.
February: vehicles with license plates ending in 0.
March: –
April: vehicles with license plates ending in 1.
May: vehicles with license plates ending in 2.
June: vehicles with license plates ending in 3.
July: vehicles with license plates ending in 4.
August: vehicles with license plates ending in 5.
September: vehicles with license plates ending in 6.
October: vehicles with license plates ending in 7.
November: vehicles with license plates ending in 8.
December: –
However, there are vehicles which are not governed by this schedule, because they must present themselves every six months to pass the Technical Inspection, and these are the following:
– Vehicles circulating in the Metropolitan Region and which were registered in the motor vehicle register before September 1, 1992.
– Diesel vehicles manufactured in 2004 or earlier.
– Vans, jeeps and pickup trucks which circulate in the Metropolitan Region and which are registered in the name of a company or legal entity dated after September 1992.
– Other vehicles for commercial use, trucks, machines and public or private transport of people.
– According to the Chileatiende portal, if you meet any of the following conditions, the procedure must be carried out every 6 months:
– Vehicles transporting people with more than nine seats, including that of the driver.
– Motorized cargo vehicles with a transport capacity of more than 1,750 kilograms, their trailers and semi-trailers.
– Taxis.
– School vehicles.

What will you see in the vehicle during the technical inspection?

– Steering systems.
– The brakes.
– Lights.
– Rims and tires.
