Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic promised the Australian Nick Kyrgios who will reveal his favorite tree in a Melbourne park that he “has a special connection with”.
Earlier in January, Djokovic said that during the Australian Open he enjoyed spending time next to the tree, located in a park in central Melbourne.
“I know in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne there is a tree that you go up to and hug. Could you show me what kind of tree it is? Because I need to improve, I’m tired of you constantly winning on this pitch,” Kyrgios said.
– Okay, I’ll show you the tree, but don’t tell anyone. It’s a big secret. You have to take off your shoes, climb to the highest point of the tree and hang upside down from one of the highest branches for 33 minutes and three seconds. Then you will win the Grand Slam,” Djokovic said in an on-court interview.
On Tuesday, Djokovic reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open by defeating American Taylor Fritz 7:6 (7:3), 4:6, 6:2, 6:3. The meeting lasted 3 hours 45 minutes.
