The first racket of the world Novak Djokovic beat the American in four sets Taylor Fritz and made it to the semi-finals Australian Open 2024.
The fight lasted three hours and 48 minutes. The first game ended in a tie-break, which the Serb eventually won – 7:3. The second set was left to Fritz, who broke in the first game.
Subsequently, the favorite turned the tide of the game and confidently won two sets in a row – 6:2 and 6:3.
Djokovic, 36, has won the Australian Open ten times in his career (from 2008 to 2023) and is the reigning winner of the tournament. In total, he has 24 victories at Grand Slam tournaments.
The famous Serb had previously met Fritz on the court eight times. This victory was Novak’s ninth out of nine possible in head-to-head matches. At the same time, Taylor lost to Djokovic only for the second time (in straight sets).
