Athletistic / Tennis. President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFF) Shamil Tarpishchev shared his emotions after the victory of the third racket in the world, Russian Daniil Medvedev, over Pole Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Australian Open.

“Danya today, in principle, looked much better and more interesting than Hurkacz. I will even say more – Medvedev should have won in four sets, and not drag out everything again and strain his nerves. This is not the first time that Danya has done it at the current Australian Open.

It was clear that in the second set the physicality had dropped significantly, which caused problems for Medvedev. But luckily the Pole also made the same mistake at some point. Well, Danya was stronger on serve. I congratulate him on reaching the semi-finals, everything here is as before,” Tarpishchev said, as quoted by Soviet Sport.

In the semi-final of the Australian Open, Daniil Medvedev will meet the winner of the match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and German Alexander Zverev.
