Medvedev-Zverev match will be a battle of characters, Kamelzon is sure

Honored Coach of Russia Vladimir Kamelzon shared his expectations from the Australian Open semi-final match between the Russians Daniel Medvedev and German tennis player Alexander Zverev.

Medvedev beat Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in five sets, and Zverev beat Spain’s Alcaraz in four sets.

— Medvedev and Zverev are top 10 players. According to the rankings, Daniil is the favorite in this match. But my opinion is that it will be a confrontation between tennis players of equal strength. They are both students of this Soviet school, their coaches managed to pass on this valuable experience to them. It is therefore not skill that will play the main role here.

A confrontation of characters awaits us. If Medvedev is a charismatic and emotional athlete, then Zverev, whom I know personally and have communicated with several times, has a strong leadership character. He is able to remain calm during such important matches. Therefore, in the semi-finals we will see which will be stronger: charisma or composure,” Kamelzon said according to RT.

The Australian Open semi-final between Medvedev and Zverev will take place on January 26.
