The Indian and Australian defeated the Italian duo Bolelli – Vavassori in two sets
Rohan Bopanna from India and Australian Matthew Ebden became winners Australian Open 2024 in doubles. In the final they beat the Italian tandem Simone Bolelli / Andrea Vavassori – 7:6, 7:5.
The match lasted exactly 100 minutes. In the first game it came to a tiebreaker, where the 43-year-old Indian and the 36-year-old Australian left no chance for their opponents – 7:0.
In the second set, the opponents regularly collected their serves until Bopanna and Ebden made the only and decisive break point in the 11th game.
Let us remind you that in the 1/8 finals Bolelli and Vavassori knocked out the Ukrainian Denis Molchanov, who performed in a duet with the Serbian Nikola Cacic, from the tournament.
Earlier in the women’s singles, the “neutral” tennis player Arina Sabalenka celebrated her triumph, confidently defeating the Chinese Qin Wen Zheng.
The main men’s final of the Australian Open 2023 will take place tomorrow, January 28. It will star Jannik Sinner (Italy) and Daniil Medvedev.
Earlier in the day, Ukraine’s Lyudmila Kichenok paired with Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko to take on the Xie Shuwei (China) / Elise Mertens (Belgium) duo in the women’s doubles final.
