Russian tennis player Natalya Vikhlyantseva believes that Belarusian Arina Sabalenko will soon supplant the Polish Iga Szwiatek from first place in the world rankings.
On Saturday, world number two Sabalenka defended her Australian Open title by beating China’s Zheng Qingwen 6-3, 6-2 in the final. On the way to the trophy, the 25-year-old Belarusian did not lose a single set.
– I think Sabalenka is now in much better shape than Szwiatek. Two years ago, Iga had no equal, everyone attributed victories to him in advance. Now everything has changed. Although Arina is ranked second in the world, she is significantly superior to Shventek in terms of level of play. I believe that soon Sabalenka will indeed become the first racket. Maybe Wimbledon and a few other tournaments will submit to her,” Vikhlyantseva quotes in “Championship”.
