— Why couldn’t Daniil close the match after the second set? Has fatigue taken its toll?

“It was a great final with a fantastic level of tennis from two masters. Medvedev and Sinner are two of the best players today. Daniil played two phenomenal sets, showing incredible tennis. Sinner was stronger in the next three matches. It is difficult to judge or advise such tennis players. Visually, the Italian seemed fresher from the third set. Medvedev didn’t look the same as he did in the first two sets. The winner is the one who is strongest in all five matches,” Selivanenko told .

Medvedev lost in the final of a Grand Slam tournament for the fifth time in his career, the third time at the Australian Open. In 2021, the 27-year-old Russian won the US Open.

Sinner won the Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career. He became the first Italian tennis player to win the Australian Open in singles.
