“Congratulations to Jannik Sinner and his team on their first of many Grand Slam victories. The Italian has now officially joined Djokovic and Alcaraz in the new Big Three.

My hats off to Daniil Medvedev for his valiant fight throughout the Melbourne tournament,” McNamee wrote on his social media page.

Jannik Sinner snatched victory from Daniil Medvedev in five sets, coming back from 0:2 down in sets. The 22-year-old Italian played in the final of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time and thus became the winner of a major tournament for the first time.

The big three were the Serbian Novak Djokovic, the Spaniard Rafael Nadal and the Swiss Roger Federer. Between them, they have won 46 Grand Slam tournaments.
