Grand Slam tournament organizers will not allow tennis players from aggressor countries.
Russians and Belarusians will not be allowed to participate in Wimbledon. This decision was made by the organizers of the Grand Slam tournament. This was reported by Sportico, citing a source.
A senior official who spoke on condition of anonymity told reporters that the decision would be made by the All-England Tennis Club because of the war unleashed by the Putin regime in Ukraine.
It will be recalled that Wimbledon 2022 will be held from June 27 to July 10. Serbian Novak Djokovic is the current winner of the tournament in men’s singles, and Ashleigh Barty of Australia, who has just finished her career, in women’s singles.
We also noticed that so far tennis players from Russia and Belarus can participate in WTA and ATP tournaments, but without national flags and anthems.
